Big and Small updates as of Dec 18th 2009

As of Dec 15th 2009, the GMPS is now a part of "the Paranormals" Community. Who and what are they, well I will let there own mission statement speak for its self.

"Mission Statement:
In the process of pursuing the goal of obtaining data to lead to a better understanding of ghosts and hauntings, our first ambition is to aid any individuals who are having problems dealing with or understanding a paranormal situation. We hope to do this by educating them as to the true nature of their individual situation and giving them the information and understanding to create a livable resolution for the person and the spirit. The Paranormals will not take on a case and leave our client’s side until the client is satisfied that they currently live in a serene living environment. If for any reason The Paranormals can not be available for a client in a certain time span due to the locale of the client, a qualified team nearest to the client’s location will be assigned to the case. Only reputable groups with a strong history and background will be designated for this duty, by virtue of our creed that the client is the number one priority concerning paranormal activity.

The Paranormals conduct themselves in a professional manner and ALL cases will be kept confidential unless the client/homeowner wishes to have their experiences disclosed to others who may be in the same position for the purpose of letting others be cognizant that they are not the only persons dealing with situations of the same origin and that they can be remedied. ALL records, investigative footage, evidence and any other pertinent information to the case will only be viewed and discussed by team members of The Paranormals to keep client confidentiality to a premium. Through our mission, The Paranormals greatest importance is that of the client’s knowledge of the paranormal and the resolution the team can impose to a client to resolve their situation and such procedures will be utilized to preserve these goals
"

So in short, we will work within the Paranormals Community doing everything we all ready do so very well. Helping all who need our help, only now we can help fellow teams and vis versa. For anyone who would like to see who all is apart of it, click on there banner on the GMPS homepage. I will tell you that one of the founders of the Paranormals is none other then Brian Harnois of "Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International" fame. We here in the GMPS is looking forward to working with the Paranormals in the near future and hope to not only live up to but surpass the standards set out in there mission statement.

In the last few months the GMPS has been in the field and doing everything it can to help others, and it was our goal to bring back GMPS Radio and TV on the Paranormal TV Network however time just was not there for it. Now if you have not seen it yet, on the main page we did start up a GMPS TV page that has steaming video running. We have decided that for now we will run GMPS TV on our own and plan on moving it over to them or someone in the near future once we have more then just a few videos to post. Over the next few months I hope to film some new videos for the site and bring back GMPS Radio on the Blog Talk Network. So keep checking back for updates on them.

And until Jan 2nd 2010 the GMPS will be taking a much needed holiday vacation. Now that does not mean that if you are in need of our services it has to hold off until Jan, you can still call or email us and get the same prompt service that we pride our self on. But an investigation will only be set up for cases of a direr nature.

Where ever you are reading this, please be sure to follow us on face book, twitter, my space, and our blog page. All the links as to where to follow us can be found at http://www.greater-maryland-paranormal-society.com and the members of the GMPS all have a facebook that you can befriend at http://www.greater-maryland-paranormal-society.com/investigators.html just click on there name and the link is at the bottom.

We here at the GMPS hope you all have a Happy and Safe Holiday, and we will see ya in 2010.

Big News From The Office of the GMPS

As promised we do have kind of big news from the Greater Maryland Paranormal Society. As of today we are now apart of the "Paranormal TV Network", and on November 11Th 2009, will be the premiere of "GMPS Radio" on there network. Along with "GMPS Radio" we will also run new episodes of "GMPS TV".

GMPS Radio is a live radio show that will cover all areas of the Paranormal from stories and urban legends to movies and TV show reviews. The hour long show will try to stay on one topic but that will depend on my mind that night. This show was on Blog Talk Radio and if you go over there you can catch a few old shows that are podcast ed. GMPS Radio is also looking for people to come on and interview. So if you are a part of a paranormal team, a medium, have a great personal story that happened to you, or have something coming up that would interest a audience who has come to hear about the paranormal then email me at gmp_society@yahoo.com and let me know that I need to book you for GMPS Radio.

GMPS TV will be prerecorded episodes of the GMPS doing what they do best. It is our goal to highlight some of our investigations and present them is a entertaining way. We will also do some online web shows on all types of things from interviews to the how to's of paranormal investigations. If you would like to be a guest on GMPS TV or have a location that you would like us to investigate for a future episode please email me and let me know the details. Please remember that if you contact us about a location you must have permission from the location or be the owner of the location. But much like GMPS Radio we would like to hear from and interview people who have had dealings with the paranormal and want to share there story.

Thanks it from the GMPS. I hope you find this as exciting as we do and hope that you will check in with us over at Paranormal TV Network. http://www.paranormaltvnetwork.com/index.html

GMPS Is Now Looking For Team Members

To all,

What I did not know would be so fast has not happened. Over the last week we have been forced to remove two members of the GMPS off of the active roster and one of our original members has droped out. This has now left a small opening in our active members roster and as such. The GMPS is now looking for the needed replacements to our team. I will lay it out for you all and if at the end you feel you are GMPS team member quality, then email me and set up a interview.

Please click on this link and read the rules. http://www.greater-maryland-paranormal-society.com/rules1.html. Also you must live in the state of MD, and be over 21 at this point. Willing and able to travel to what ever location we maybe investigating. Must be able to pass a full background check and if needed pass a drug screening. Must also take part in all aspects of the investigation. That also means you must attend meetings, evidence review and research as needed. If you apply to the GMPS you are expected to always be in contact with the GMPS. That means that you must reply to any and all emails coming off of the GMPS groups page and direct sent emails. If you pass the interview and background checks you will be called back for formal training dates. As per our own rules, you will not be allowed to investigate any locations until you have gone out 2 times as a investigator in training.

We will be having an open call for new investigators on Tuesdays at the Starbucks on Ritchie Hwy across from the DMV in Glen Burnie from 4pm to 6pm. Email me at gmp_society@yahoo.com if you think you can make it.

Membership in the GMPS and other things

Hello all.

I wanted to thank everyone who in the past few weeks have requested membership in the Greater Maryland Paranormal Society. We are more then honored that you have seeked membership with us. But at this point sadly we are not taking new members. You may wonder why so here is the reason. We have times when we have lots of cases and are in need of many members, but then there are also times when we have no cases in sight. And I dont feel that its fair to bring on new members to a team that at times have to wait to go on an investigation. Seeing that we are a on call service, if we dont have cases we dont investigate. We are not the kind to go out and hang in grave yards, abandoned buildings or battlefields for kicks. If we are not requested then we dont investigate it. And even with the number that we have, there are times when some members are not allow on a case due to the size of the location. Bringing new people on will only add to that. And there are some members who have been with the team since the very start of the GMPS, and they will have first choice on cases. But as things progress we will have need for new members, and when we do it will be posted on here. If you have emailed us a application it will be kept on file for 6 months.

So if you have tryed to join in the past few months we want to thank you for choosing the GMPS team and as slots open up we will be in touch. And please keep checking back on openings in the GMPS team.

Ellicott City

Hey all,

On Friday Aug 25th 2009 the GMPS got the chance to investigate the Howard County Historical Muesem behind the court house. I am very happy to say that we also had just about every member of the GMPS team out for this investigation. Also with us we had to students from Stevenson University, 2 professional photographers, and a reported from the Howard County Times who was there to do a feature story of the GMPS and our investigation. We started setup at 8pm and were dark before 9pm. I will not go too far in to the case its self as we are still going over everything and besides I dont want to take away from the newspaper story.

Today Jason Henry and I started work on some of the piles of recorders we have to listen too. Outside of Shille taking 2 with her, we were left to work on our own. With only a small problem with where to do it, we got some of it knocked out. However we were shock that the paper sent someone to take picures of us while we listened to recorders and watched videos in our local Starbucks. We were told that the paper with us in it will be the one on Oct 1st 2009. I cant wait to see how we come out looking..lol.

I will post more after we get everything done. But I did want to post the new group shot of just about the full team from that night. And again I am hoping there will be more to follow.

Talk to Ya soon,

Bill Hartley

Howard County Historical Society Museum

While on most investigations we are not allowed to really talk about investigations, this one also falls in to one of the ones where they do not mind that it is published that they are an upcoming investigation. So we here at the GMPS are very excited to announce that on Friday night we will be investigating the old church that acts as there Museum. While this is not the first time the location has had other teams in, it is the first time for us. And as a lover of history, I cant wait to investigate a location with the influx of both the age of the location and the possibilities from what the location was, plus all the items on display could also account for possible activity there.

It was told to me that one of the other teams who were there did find something. However it would seem to have not been a lot. And with the track record of evidence we have been able to find in the most recent investigations, I am hoping to continue with that and come away with something good. Yes I know I do tend to preach debunking, and yes that is still the rule for this case. But since this is a location that has been looked over more then once, this will give my team and my self a little more breathing room on how we investigate. Bottom line is this is one that we can have fun with and get in some much needed training for some of our junior staff.

While this is closed to the public, we will have a professional photographer with us and maybe a reported if possible. So if that becomes a possiblity I will keep some of the background of whats going on there from this post just in case.

I will close this by letting you all know that I will post a full story on this location come next week, and that the GMPS is starting to heat up again with a possible return to Calvert Co, Gettysburg Pa, and Elkton Md. So if you are in need to our investigations, we are getting busy so now is the time to book us. And to do that just email me at gmp_society@yahoo.com and let me know whats going on with your location.

Until next time, remember its not haunted until we say its haunted,
Bill

The GMPS TV Videos

Hello all, I know its been a while since the investigation down there in NC and I should have had this done some time ago. But things have been going wild in my personal life since that trip and I had not gotten the chance to finsh putting this together until last week. But then came yet another problem, getting them online for you all to see. Well I just got that taked care of, and here they are. Sometime over the weekend I will be putting up a page on our wepage that will have the evps and some photos as well as what happened and why has happened since that case. In regards to this video, I have to tell you that it is not 100% the way I wanted it. For some reason the video editing software on saving the video and converting it over, changed the location of some of the video, so there is a part where I was talking about the child in the hallway and it sould have shown a video of the hallway, instead it put up a still of trees?? So please enjoy it for what it is, and I will try to make the next one even better.

Update from NC

Hello all.

Myself and Jason along with Becky of Port City Paranormal are right now sitting at the Port City Java on Market St in Wilmington going over some audio from last nights invesigation of Hardwire Tattoo. As there is no shock, it does seem that Southern Gothic is scare of paranormal investigators as they were a no show. However it does not matter as this location is maybe one of the worst places to set up recorders and expect to get anything on them. Front st seems to be nothing but people walking, talking, yelling and cars going by that one of the recorders is not even going to be played. Plus they left a kid from the store to stay with us, and clearly did not want to stay and at one point he got a guitar and went out to the front of the store and played and sang.......(BADLY). Makes Jason sound like Phil Colins. Some of there clames have been debunked.

We did think that we had some really god evps, but we also debunked them too. We do have one or two that could be something, but with all the outside noise going on it is very hard to say. So there is a very good chance that if there was something there, we may not ever catch it on a weekend investigaion. But the one or two that we do have could very well be s thinking its somethings that its not.

However Becky and I did here one or two sounds that were in the back where that noice is light. And while so far it has not come up on the recorders, we both know that it was something that was there and not just a outside noise.

We did try to go live on the blogger site but the wi-fi was locked there.

Keep checking back for more updates.

North Carolina

Hello to all who are reading this. As many of you know, so of the members of the GMPS will be going down to Wilmington NC to investigate a location that may have activity. I will be on the road around 2am on the 8th, and plan on being in Wilmington NC around noon. I have invited along for the ride, Becky from Post City Paranormal. She has volunteered to do some of the leg work as far as history of the area. And she will be the first to join us as a guest from another group. We have also invited the crew of Southern Gothic Productions to join us in this investigation. However we have not gotten word if they can make it or not. But it would be sad if Goths are scared of being in the dark or looking for ghosts...lol.

Well keep checking back, I am going to try to post pics and or video from the road. And if there is a good wi-fi signal there, I will also have a live online chat.

Last Nights Investigation

Hello to all who might find this. Last night members of the GMPS returned to our clients house in Huntingtown MD for a followup investigation. Members on this investigation was Jenn, Colin, Lori and myself. Our last time there did turn out 17 different evp's. However no real personal experences. Last night was no different, and we will not know about evp's until this week we go over the recorders. So keep checking back and I will be sure to let you all know if we caught anything.

I did try something new, as for the first time I live chatted during the investigation. However I am not sure how well it turned out. May try it again. But I am pretty sure it will be live at another location next time. Kind of got a strange responce from that location today, and I am not sure if it goes against there "rules". So seeing that the location in question changes its own rules every day, while shows that they dont know what they want out of there site, I will be more careful in the future.

Keep checking back and we will continue to bring you more of the inner workings of the GMPS.

The first Official Promo from the GMPS

It has dawned on us that being in the paranormal business from time to time we get talking to people who always seem to have a story of a old childhood home or a friends place where they have seen a ghost, been touched (by a ghost), cold spots or doors that just open on there own. That mixing with people who really want to see what paranormal investigating is all about, or want to join the GMPS. So here is where this promo comes from.

From April to Sep 2009
Anyone who recommends the GMPS to a family member, friend, co-worker, place of business or anyone else and they become a client, and they tell us that you were the one who pointed them to us, you will earn the chance to come to there investigation as a Official GMPS member in-trainning. (they have to make contact with us, not you and we will not contact anyone who is recommended to us) What does that mean, well that means that you will get to be trainned on our equipment for that night, investigate side by side with the members of the GMPS. And if all goes well, invited to come back with us when we go over all the evidence and go back to the location to let them know what was found and show them what was found. And the last thing, you will be put on the top of the call list when we start looking for new team members.

the Catch
Yes like all things there are a few. First off, anyone who contacts us must tell our Case Manager your name and a contact number. You must be 18 or over and can get your self to the investigation and anywhere else. You must be able to pass a background check before the day of the investigation. You must be able to follow any and all rules given to you by the GMPS team. You must be able to stay for the whole investigation. You must sign a waver before the investigation starts. And the most important thing, whom ever you recommend to us, must not only have the legal say to allow us access to there property, they must prove that there is a real need for an investigation and must apporve of you being at there place during an investigation. Meaning that should we feel that the location is a hoax or they dont have a legal say on if we can access it for an investigation, or for any reason that person is not of right mind, then all deals are off.

Contact Us
If you have someone who might need our help, then tell them to call
443-823-8347 or email us at gmp_society@yahoo.com.

And remember, they need to tell us you were the one who sent them to us.
Good Luck and we will be seeing you soon at your first investigation.

First Posting

Hello to all who happen to have stoped by for a visit. For anyone just getting to know the GMPS, I hope you have had the time to check out our webpage. It is about to have some major changes, but I really cant tell you what will change, or what will be removed. So I will move some things over here just so we have it archived.

What are we up do at this point. Well tonight we will be going back to a location in Huntingtown MD. Our last visit there turned up 17 different evp's, and a few of our investigators had some personal experences. So just to make sure that there is in fact something there and not just something that could have been caused by us, we will be going back with less team members and longer hours. As things go, I am sure that some of the evp's will end up on here. But not until we get permission to use them from our client.

On May 8th to the 10th, some of the GMPS team will be in Wilmington NC conducting an investigaton of a local business. They have already given us permission to talk about there location and case, but until we go down there, I think I will hold off posting the name. We do not want to have them over run with wanna be ghost hunters.

Seeing that we have put out two videos so far, I am going to put them in this posting. We will be making more over time and I will post them on here. The first one, the longer of the two was put together because we were approched by the tv production company in Maryland who wanted to start a show on......yea ghost hunters from the Baltimore Area. So we had to put together a video for them. That is the result. As of Dec 08 it is still listed as in development. What the hell that means is anyones guess. The second one is just a quick one that I put together because one of my team members got alittle bit surprised when comming out of the bathroom.

Enjoy the videos, and please follow us, as we are going to be posting much more in the future.
