Report on the April Workshops

Hello all.

I am so sorry it took me this long to post what happened when the GMPS took a shot at hosting a workshop. I have to say that being that it was going to be our first time, I was not 100% sure it was not just going to be a train wreck. But I should have known that the team members of the GMPS would not fail me.

So our first shot at doing a workshop happened at the Eldersburg Branch of the Carroll County Library on April 3rd 2010. We did not have to start until 1pm but we all got there more the a hour early to go over what we wanted to do, and set up equipment for everyone to see and at the end come up and handle. We did not really go in to this with a lot of prep work. We did not really plan on much more then going in to how the GMPS came to be and alittle bit about each member of the team that could make it out. Then take everyone in to what goes in to a full investigation from the first email to the full investigation to evidence reveal. I also put together a small video showing highlights from different investigations so people can see what its like to investigate with the GMPS. We have people from other teams there as well as people who wonder what it is that we do. There were lots of good questions and interactions from the people who joined us that day. It was a great workshop I thought and my team enjoyed it and did a great job with it.
The second one was on April 22nd 2010 at the Mt. Airy Branch of the Carroll County Library. We were there around 6pm or so and started at 7pm. Much like the first one, we only went it with the idea of doing pretty much like we did at the first one, and go from there. We did not set out as much equipment as we did the first time, but I did take out a set of rods that I had made a few years ago that really did have something strange happen to them, I am sure many have heard the story before, if not ask me some time. I felt that is one went even better then the first one had. And again all the GMPS team members did a great job with it. There are several pictures from both workshops at http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo_search.php?oid=48355814773&view=all so go over there and have a look. If you are not already on our GMPS face book page, join it.
In the coming weeks we hope to have new videos going up, including the video shown at the workshops. So keep checking back here for updates. And don't forget we are still looking for new members for GMPS Team 2, so email me and get in your applications.
Until Next Time,
Bill
