The End of 2010

Its hard to believe what a great and crazy year it has been for the GMPS team. We started out with a few cases that needed to be moved due to snow. Having the girls from Stevenson following us around filming us for there school video that ended up being "GMPS: Debunking the Myth" that you can see on our web page. The Spring found us doing two workshops that came out pretty well, seeing we had never done one before. We became a part of the Paranormals team run by Brian Dude Run him self. We also failed to make it as a TAPS Family team, cause they seem to be far more worried about if teams web pages have something on them that sounds like another teams web page instead of picking a team based on field experience and how well one works with there clients and what level of help they bring to them. And God help the team that has a "creepy" picture on a ghost page. But at the end of the day we find that being our self's and being who and what we are go far beyond what they are about. Hell they don't even know that the local teams that are suppose to be with them are gone.

We also sadly ended up getting in a bit of a disagreement with a local team. What over you might ask? To put it simply it was over a client that we both took on. And when you have two teams that investigate in different ways, you get what we had here. Outside of what I know from the client and there own web page, I know very little else and feel that it was a matter that could have best been worked out had clearer heads prevailed.

We also found our self's on a episode of the show "Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal". It was a fun wild ride that I never dreamed would have happened to us. And I don't think that any of it sunk in until the night Chip and the kids were filming with me at the house used on the show. We were in one of the bedrooms and it dawned on me that not only was I really filming on that show but I was working right next to Chip. The kids on that show were so much more then I could have ever dreamed of as well. I have never met kids that were so smart and really seemed to have a gift. They really did pick up on things in that house that they really could not have known before hand. Some of which did not even make the show, and outside of what I knew about the house from our investigation there, some of it was new to me and there was no way that anyone on the show knew about it. So yes these kids may have changed my mind abit on psychics. And they have become the first ever to get a honorary membership in to the GMPS team.

As far as investigations go, we had so many cases this year that I am sure that we doubled what we did in 2009. Some of them were very haunted and others not so much. But that is the way of this business is. For the first time this year we caught a shadow figure go past a camera, a teddy bear fly out of a closet with no one in the room, had a documentary filmed and shown in Public about us, and even topped our most collected EVP's from one location in one night. Yeah it totaled 31 for a span of three hours. And at the same investigation something locked a door on us and dropped a heavy whisk about half way across the kitchen from where its kept. Also for the first time ever for the GMPS team, we hosted a public investigation in Laurel MD that by all accounts went very well.

By fall now only did we do another workshop but we were also asked to be a guest at a Special Kids Halloween event in Carroll County which ended up being on the front page of the local news paper.

We also lost some team members along the way this year. No they did not die, but life outside of the team made it necessary for them to leave. And while we will miss all who left, we did also bring on a few that seem like they will work out well and we are always looking for others to join the team.

The winter was just as busy so far for us as the rest of the year has been. With our last revile done just days before Christmas, we already have 2 cases lined up in Jan 2011.

Who knows what 2011 will bring for the GMPS team. But I wanted to thank all of you who follow us online here, facebook, twitter, myspace, our web page or where ever else. And the GMPS team wishes you the very best for 2011 and beyond.

Wanna Be A Member

Hello all. It's Bill from the Greater Maryland Paranormal Society and I am back again to fill you all in on the GMPS and whats a goin on in our world. I wanted to say that the Laurel public investigation event went off great. In the very short time we had to get the whole thing done, there were several evp's caught and one photo that very well might show a extra guest who was not on the list. The evidence will be made public some time this week.

On Sat I also did a kids Ghostbuster event where I got the chance to talk to kids about ghosts. I will be the first to say that I am not thinking that the little ones are up on there ghosts and all. But I was very surprised by the questions some of them had. And I think it went well. Here is a link to a story about it from the front page of the Carroll County Times. http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/news/local/article_9e949b78-e498-11df-b5b5-001cc4c002e0.html?mode=story

And now for the big news.....on Wed Nov 10th at 6pm at the Starbucks in the 6600 block of Ritchie Hwy in Glen Burnie, the GMPS will be holding a open call for new team members. Do you have what it takes to become a real paranormal investigator? Do you have the dedication needed for the job? Most of the TV shows get it wrong and dont show you what all goes in to an investigation. Please keep in mind that we are a on call service, and we do not go to grave yards, abandonded buildings, private property or pay to investigate locations. We are in the business of helping others and we deal with real clients. And we are looking for people who can understand that therer is a big difference in getting it done right and what you see on tv. And above all else you must qualify for membership. Below is the basic qualifications. If you feel you are what we are looking for them please email me at gmp_society@yahoo.com and let me know that you plan on attending. Also please go to http://www.greater-maryland-paranormal-society.com/files/fullgmpsapp.pdf and print out the application form, fill it out and have it ready to hand in when you meet us. We hope to hear from you soon.

Report on the April Workshops

Hello all.

I am so sorry it took me this long to post what happened when the GMPS took a shot at hosting a workshop. I have to say that being that it was going to be our first time, I was not 100% sure it was not just going to be a train wreck. But I should have known that the team members of the GMPS would not fail me.

So our first shot at doing a workshop happened at the Eldersburg Branch of the Carroll County Library on April 3rd 2010. We did not have to start until 1pm but we all got there more the a hour early to go over what we wanted to do, and set up equipment for everyone to see and at the end come up and handle. We did not really go in to this with a lot of prep work. We did not really plan on much more then going in to how the GMPS came to be and alittle bit about each member of the team that could make it out. Then take everyone in to what goes in to a full investigation from the first email to the full investigation to evidence reveal. I also put together a small video showing highlights from different investigations so people can see what its like to investigate with the GMPS. We have people from other teams there as well as people who wonder what it is that we do. There were lots of good questions and interactions from the people who joined us that day. It was a great workshop I thought and my team enjoyed it and did a great job with it.
The second one was on April 22nd 2010 at the Mt. Airy Branch of the Carroll County Library. We were there around 6pm or so and started at 7pm. Much like the first one, we only went it with the idea of doing pretty much like we did at the first one, and go from there. We did not set out as much equipment as we did the first time, but I did take out a set of rods that I had made a few years ago that really did have something strange happen to them, I am sure many have heard the story before, if not ask me some time. I felt that is one went even better then the first one had. And again all the GMPS team members did a great job with it. There are several pictures from both workshops at http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo_search.php?oid=48355814773&view=all so go over there and have a look. If you are not already on our GMPS face book page, join it.
In the coming weeks we hope to have new videos going up, including the video shown at the workshops. So keep checking back here for updates. And don't forget we are still looking for new members for GMPS Team 2, so email me and get in your applications.
Until Next Time,
Bill

GMPS the second team

Hello all,

I hope this finds all of you happy and healthy and getting ready for this holiday weekend. As for me I find my self thinking of a few things such as our workshop this weekend and how I think I want to get a small second team together for the GMPS. Not that we don't have enough people as it is, but seeing that you can never tell how things might go and we have been super busy the past few months that having others in the team or a second wave team that can give the regulars off from time to time might be useful. So here is my ideal people for the new team.

The new team will all be investigators in training and will have to put in the time to become a full member of the team. The investigators in training must have the time to devote to the GMPS. I have found that many on the team have the time to do most things but one very important thing that seems to always be a up hill battle is evidence review. But it is also one of the most important jobs in the team. Review happens the day after an investigation, so if we investigate on a Sat, we start on review on Monday. The second team will be all about the review and the more time you put in with it the closer you get to going out on investigations. The more field time you get the sooner you will become a full team member. Its just that simple. You will get trained in all aspects of investigations. There is something that you must know. I need people who are really ready to learn and be ready to work. Below are the basic qualifications needed to apply.

1. you must be over the age of 21.
2. you must live in the Baltimore area.
3. you must have the time needed to become a member.(please do not apply if you have alot going on and think you can fit us in)
4. you can meet for a interview in Glen Burnie.
5. you can follow all the rules that are set forth by the GMPS.
6. you must be very serious about wanting to help others and are not doing it cause it looks fun on tv.
7. you have your own transportation to locations
8. you can pass a full background check
9. you are willing to work all jobs within the GMPS.(Interview, walk through, research, investigation, set up and break down, and evidence review to list a few)
10. you have no issues with travel, health, working with others, working all night, working in the afternoon, and have no personal drama.

If you think that you fit in with these guidelines then go to http://www.greater-maryland-paranormal-society.com/join.html and print out the application and fill it out. Then email me at gmp_society@yahoo.com to let me know you have filled out the application and want to set up a interview for the GMPS. Please also let me know what days after 5pm work for you.

This is a great field and a good time to join. I am looking forward to talking with you soon,
