Membership in the GMPS and other things

Hello all.

I wanted to thank everyone who in the past few weeks have requested membership in the Greater Maryland Paranormal Society. We are more then honored that you have seeked membership with us. But at this point sadly we are not taking new members. You may wonder why so here is the reason. We have times when we have lots of cases and are in need of many members, but then there are also times when we have no cases in sight. And I dont feel that its fair to bring on new members to a team that at times have to wait to go on an investigation. Seeing that we are a on call service, if we dont have cases we dont investigate. We are not the kind to go out and hang in grave yards, abandoned buildings or battlefields for kicks. If we are not requested then we dont investigate it. And even with the number that we have, there are times when some members are not allow on a case due to the size of the location. Bringing new people on will only add to that. And there are some members who have been with the team since the very start of the GMPS, and they will have first choice on cases. But as things progress we will have need for new members, and when we do it will be posted on here. If you have emailed us a application it will be kept on file for 6 months.

So if you have tryed to join in the past few months we want to thank you for choosing the GMPS team and as slots open up we will be in touch. And please keep checking back on openings in the GMPS team.

Ellicott City

Hey all,

On Friday Aug 25th 2009 the GMPS got the chance to investigate the Howard County Historical Muesem behind the court house. I am very happy to say that we also had just about every member of the GMPS team out for this investigation. Also with us we had to students from Stevenson University, 2 professional photographers, and a reported from the Howard County Times who was there to do a feature story of the GMPS and our investigation. We started setup at 8pm and were dark before 9pm. I will not go too far in to the case its self as we are still going over everything and besides I dont want to take away from the newspaper story.

Today Jason Henry and I started work on some of the piles of recorders we have to listen too. Outside of Shille taking 2 with her, we were left to work on our own. With only a small problem with where to do it, we got some of it knocked out. However we were shock that the paper sent someone to take picures of us while we listened to recorders and watched videos in our local Starbucks. We were told that the paper with us in it will be the one on Oct 1st 2009. I cant wait to see how we come out looking..lol.

I will post more after we get everything done. But I did want to post the new group shot of just about the full team from that night. And again I am hoping there will be more to follow.

Talk to Ya soon,

Howard County Historical Society Museum

While on most investigations we are not allowed to really talk about investigations, this one also falls in to one of the ones where they do not mind that it is published that they are an upcoming investigation. So we here at the GMPS are very excited to announce that on Friday night we will be investigating the old church that acts as there Museum. While this is not the first time the location has had other teams in, it is the first time for us. And as a lover of history, I cant wait to investigate a location with the influx of both the age of the location and the possibilities from what the location was, plus all the items on display could also account for possible activity there.

It was told to me that one of the other teams who were there did find something. However it would seem to have not been a lot. And with the track record of evidence we have been able to find in the most recent investigations, I am hoping to continue with that and come away with something good. Yes I know I do tend to preach debunking, and yes that is still the rule for this case. But since this is a location that has been looked over more then once, this will give my team and my self a little more breathing room on how we investigate. Bottom line is this is one that we can have fun with and get in some much needed training for some of our junior staff.

While this is closed to the public, we will have a professional photographer with us and maybe a reported if possible. So if that becomes a possiblity I will keep some of the background of whats going on there from this post just in case.

I will close this by letting you all know that I will post a full story on this location come next week, and that the GMPS is starting to heat up again with a possible return to Calvert Co, Gettysburg Pa, and Elkton Md. So if you are in need to our investigations, we are getting busy so now is the time to book us. And to do that just email me at gmp_society@yahoo.com and let me know whats going on with your location.

Until next time, remember its not haunted until we say its haunted,
Bill
